Our Vision and Mission

Our vision and mission are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Our Mission Statement

At St Mary’s we will:-

Enable each child to develop a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith,

promote respect for religious and moral values and tolerance of other races and

religions

Foster the growth of each child’s potential through the development of respect

for self and others

Promote the individual talents and abilities of pupils to ensure that each child

fulfills his or her full potential.

Promote an understanding and care of the environment in which each child finds

him or herself.

Promote a close and co-operative relationship between home, parish and school.

In the school community we live by the motto:-

SEQUERE MARIAM IN FIDE

Follow Mary in Faith

 ETHOS AND AIMS

Our school aims to develop those values which Catholics believe reflect the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Church. Our religious ethos is to be found across the whole curriculum and is reflected in all areas of the life of the school. Christian values permeate each area of experience and learning; in this way we endeavour to promote the formation of the whole person.

The overriding aim of the school therefore, is the Christian growth of the children, not simply growth in their own faith but in their growing awareness of the world as a maturing and worshipping Christian.

In order to create an atmosphere which enables true Christianity to grow, we aim:

a) To provide a caring, happy environment in which all pupils develop self-confidence and self-respect.

b) To provide an environment in which all children can make a worthwhile contribution, where everyone is valued and everyone's needs are respected as important.

c) To help the children realise that the school is a place of prayer by highlighting the use of prayer in thanksgiving to God and praying in times of need, both individually and as part of a community.

d) To emphasise the Christian ideal of service, by giving the children the opportunity to help people in need, both locally and universally.

These Christian values are incorporated in our School Mission Statement, which has been agreed by the Governing Body and the Staff.
